Hello everyone! Well it’s been an interesting couple of weeks. I’ve decided to start my own business!!! Woo hoo! Right now I am starting a small catering business out of my home specializing in desserts. This past Sunday I had a small get together with some friends and had a tasting party to get some feedback on my work. We also enjoyed some delicious bbq chicken and hamburgers that Luis made. Sooo good. It was an overall success and I have my very first order of mini fruit tarts that I have to get done by Friday. I’m very excited. You got to start somewhere right?! I’m going to have to get a bigger menu going so I will keep you updated on the new things that I make.

P.S. My next post will be about music. I promise you.

So I’ve been really lazy and haven’t been posting lately, but trust me I haven’t forgotten about you guys! I’ve been busy eating and going to sxsw so I will have some posts up very very soon. In the meantime check out this Fresh Fruit Tart I made tonight. It’s my favorite recipe from my favorite chef Ina Garten (if you don’t know who that it is..its The Barefoot Contessa….if you still don’t know who that is, well look her up).

Something salty, something sweet, something to drink.

So while in Austin last Tuesday for the young girls show I definitely had to check out the Austin Daily Press food truck. Had the gyro and feta sandwich. Sooo good.

So, I’m gonna go on a bit of a rant here. The other day I was checking out The Morning Benders facebook page and found a link to a video they had done. It directed me to youtube and I started reading the comments. One in particular stood out to me. YoullGetYourKumupets wrote “hipsters wouldn’t be listening to morning benders after they heard it on the reese’s pieces commercial. too mainstream”. Ok, wait what?! A. I assume he is insinuating that they have sold out. B. I didn’t realize having a 10 second clip of your music (without any lyrics) on a reeses commercial would be considered selling out and/or too mainstream. My definition of selling out it is when a band who perhaps changes their music style completley to something more mainstream (*cough*kings of leon*cough*). I also don’t understand when fans get upset when their favorite band becomes well known for their music. What’s so wrong with that? You should be happy that they are getting recognition for their work. That in fact is what a “fan” is. Get off your high horse and just listen to their music for what it is. Over and out.

Can’t stop listening to this song. They are coming to Austin in April. I’m requesting off work asap!
